Meet the Author: Mary Roach

Enjoy an onstage interview with author Mary Roach about Packing for Mars: The Curious Science of Life in the Void, moderated by Ann Fisher. Discover the weird side of space science - from what happens if you vomit in your space helmet to what happens to you when you can't walk for a year.

Mary Roach is also the author of Fuzz, Stiff, Gulp, and Bonk.

6pm - Doors open and seating begins; book sale
7pm - Author talk, followed by audience Q&A (Includes sign language interpretation.)
8pm - Book sale hosted by The Book Loft; book signing (Limit: 3 books.)

Where is my ticket? Your confirmation email serves as your ticket. Please bring a copy of your confirmation email to the event.

Can I choose my seat? You will be able to choose your seat when you arrive at the venue - seating is first come, first served.

How will the book signing work? The earlier you arrive, the earlier you will be released for the book signing. Upon arrival, you will receive an event program with a letter on it that corresponds to your place in the book signing line.

Limit: 3 books, 1 photo per person/group.

How long will the book signing take? Please note that book signings take time. These are large events and the author is given the opportunity to interact with guests as they choose. Staff are trained to keep the line moving as efficiently as possible. Restrictions for signing are subject to the author, their management or event circumstances.

Can accommodations be made for guests with disabilities? Yes. When purchasing your ticket, select from the following options: wheelchair accessible, no stairs seating, and hearing impaired. (An ASL interpreter will automatically be provided for the presentation; no formal request necessary.)

What is your refund policy? At this time, we are unable to offer a refund. All sales are final.

Can I get my book signed without purchasing a ticket? No. To be eligible for the book signing, you must purchase a ticket to the event.

Can I buy a ticket at the door? If the event is not yet full, you may purchase a ticket onsite. Please know that there are a limited number of seats and that ticket availability may be limited. No entry is allowed without a ticket.

Will masks be required? Masks may be required, per the author's request. Check back for details on the day of the event.

About Mary Roach

Mary Roach is the author of seven New York Times bestsellers. Mary's books have been published in 21 languages, and her second book, SPOOK, was a New York Times Notable Book.

Mary has written for National Geographic, Wired, The New York Times Magazine, and the Journal of Clinical Anatomy, among others. She was a guest editor of the Best American Science and Nature Writing series and an Osher Fellow with the San Francisco Exploratorium and serves as an advisor for Orion and Undark magazines.
