Description

Retrace the footsteps of William Fouse, the first Black graduate of Westerville High School and Otterbein University. Learn how Fouse was deeply connected to the world around him, from the streets he walked to the people he interacted with each day. They shaped his path and set the stage for his accomplishments in Westerville and beyond, leaving Westerville and its historic buildings with a powerful legacy for Black history and American history.

Meet your guide in front of the American Issue sculpture at Westerville City Hall. Be prepared to walk 1.3 miles around Uptown Westerville, Otterbein University, and the Hanby House.

Presented in partnership with the Otterbein University Archives and the Westerville Historical Society.
